After Angoulême, our next international stop this year is the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (March 31–April 3, 2025).
Tanja Skale, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, was a member of the international jury for the BolognaRagazzi Award 2025 (BRAW) in the comics category, alongside Karen Green, Curator of Comics and Cartoons at Columbia University, and Luca Raffaelli, an Italian journalist and screenwriter. At the fair, she will also participate as a speaker and moderator in two events: the presentation of the BRAW award winners for the best comics and a panel discussion on the Baltic comics scene, held as part of Estonia’s honorary guest programme at this year’s fair.
Slovenian illustrator and comic artist Jure Engelsberger, who primarily specializes in children’s book illustration, will also attend the Bologna Book Fair. In 2023, he created the comic book Death and the Shoemaker, published in the Stripburger collection Folktales in Comics. The work earned him the Golden Pear sign, a recognition for quality youth literature. Engelsberger is also the featured Slovenian author in this year’s edition of the international project Long Live Comics! / Viva i Fumetto!, organized in collaboration with the Italian association Vivacomix.
A selection of our comics for children and young readers will be showcased at the Slovenian national stand (Hall 29, C/32-D/31).
